Is your home made skin care product still safe?

Is your home made skin care product still safe?

Our skin is the largest organ in our body and the skin on our faces is probably one of the most sensitive of all. There are lot of things going on at our faces like oiliness that causes blackheads and pimples which you will undoubtedly try to remove by poking it, squeezing it that results to scars which ends up as dark spots. We don’t want that do we?

So we decide to go to skin clinics that goes and poke more on our sensitive skins.

What we blindly believed is that skin care centers and spas are the only solution to our problems but there is actually a safer and sometime even better solution, homemade skin care products. Although, skin care centers do probe on our faces, they are usually the last resort and can also sometime help our faces be cleansed of dirt and spots.

Homemade skin care products are great for the skin because they are simply truly fresh and natural. No added chemicals that may be harmful to the delicate skin. But there are also some downsides of homemade.

They don’t have a long lifespan. Unlike the common commercial skin care products, homemade are more prone of going “bad” and might even cultivate bacteria and yeast. It’s very common since the ingredients are natural and fresh.

So here are some tips to see if your home made skin care product is still good to use and how to keep it longer.

Contamination

Where you put your home made skin care product can definitely be one of the reason it being contaminated. And also, avoid touching it directly so you won’t contaminate your products.

Light

Yes, light can add up to your products getting bacteria since they love heat and light so much. Make sure to keep them on dark containers or in dark cabinets to avoid light.

Life expectancy

Sadly, every natural homemade products are doomed to be gone in certain time. It’s best to make them for single batch only. Food products can last to a week I fridge while others may last up to two weeks.

Bad smell

It’s natural so if it smells bad then it’s bad. Don’t use it!

Well, that’s pretty much it. Homemade skincare products are better but you have to be very careful with it.

Here is something you can use with a long lifespan.

If you have oily face that clogs your pores that give you blackheads

If you want to get rid of your dead skin cells

If you want to exfoliate and brighten up your face

Then the Oatmeal Facial Scrub is the answer.

Recipe:

1 cup plain uncooked oats

2 tablespoons of honey

Mix the honey and the oats together in a small bowl until it forms a sticky paste. Using gentle circular motions, massage the paste on your face and neck—avoiding the eye area. Let the scrub sit on your face for 15 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.

Note: Do not use this recipe if you’re allergic to any of the ingredients. And don’t forget to use a spatula instead of your hand. Try making more and simply store it on your fridge and use it again tomorrow
